GARRISON BAND CONCERT.
I The concert given in the Theatre Royal on Monday evening for the benefit of I Bandsman Ooulth&rt was t grett uo> cess in point of financial support, the (building bainß well filled, ana ae aeon* cert proved very erjjyable, It was cer'ainly varied to suit all tastes, but , the variation was a little toi extended for a portion of the audience to whom i anything verging on vulgarity it objeotionabß However, the more que* : tionable items apparently pleistd ft coorderable section of the andienoe, { judging by the encores, and therefore from a fininoi.l point of view they 1 were an acquisition to the progtamme ( In addi ion to the Garriion Bind and Mr Eountree'a orchestra, the items of which were a musical treat, Miss Murphy and Messrs J. Ryan and J. Crocket gava vocal items which found hfariy appreciation and dreervedly eo. An instrumental duet (olariooet and violin) by Mr and Mrs MoKoeight, and a cUrionet so'o by Mr MoKneight 1 were iu themselves wcr.h the price of admittance to hear, whilst another good I item wu a bas* q m'e te "Summer," by M'ssra P.ckford, Donovan, Ore wee, , 1 and O.cckett. Mr Crockett's euph?« 1 n : um sol i "Rocked in the Oradle of the Djep" alst met with dui appreciation, Mr Lints, of Waeganui, gave a clever 1 exhibi'ion of club swinging. In the , tin comic department, Messrs L. Smith ' and J. D.-von clevrly impersonated i "Two Micks," whilst Mesers Oolite'and Taylor also brought down the house wii h their eccentricities. Mr L. Smith contiibu'ed a number of comic song*, which were appropriately received, whilst Mr J. Devon's solo "Tartar ; caused endless amusement. The oon- | cert coco'udel with a olever vsntriloqual entertainment by Mr JeesOllier, During the interval Mr B. M. Smith, ' M.H.R., who presided, returned t&anki to the performers and auJfcnoj for tbeir assistance.
