THE AUBURN TRAGEDY.
ACCUSED (SENTENCED TO DEATH. JUDGE ACCUSED CF BIAS. FKB PEBSB ASSOCIATION. Keceived 20, 0.57 n.in Stone*, May 19. Grand and Jones were santenced to death for the murder of Constable Long. The jury added a recommendation for mercy on the ground that there was no evidence as to who fired the shot. When asked if he had anything to Bay, Grand said, " I hive to tell your Honor, to your face, you have conducted the case more like a Crown prosecutor than a Judge." Then, naming acerta'n Judge, he continued : " What e did he die ? Away from his friends and relations, wh?re I hope you will. I will meet you before God, then you will see whether I am inncceot or guilty." Jones to'd the Judge he was prejudiced from the fi s'.
