A member cf the local branch of the Farmers' Union at yesterday's met ting resigned, on the ground that when he*' joined it was on the understanding that the Union was non-political. Tha president said it was absurd to talk of; banishing politics from their meet* iogs, as all legislation appertain' ing to or affecting the intereeta < of landowners must come into the life of the Union. Further he desired it die* tinctly understood that he would decline to represent tha Bmrd at the Confer* esce if he we e not allowed to discuss legislation. The meeting decided that the prtsident be entirely free to sot according to his judgment.
