At the Police Court on Wednesday morning, a rather unusual cise was heard. A young girl mined Margaret ICersliaw was chargod with being a rogU'S and a vagabond, having no visible means of support-, and being found by night illegally on the premises of tho Commonwealth Hotel. The facts of the case ap peared to be that the accused was a barmaid at the hotel, and was peremptorily discharged at 5 o'clock on Monday even-
ing for alleged misconduct. She slept at i tho hotel on Monday evening ill her usuil room,-on the Tuesday she was ordered to leave, but refused to do so till she wis paidw On Tuesday night she wept to her room, but found the lock taken off the door, and on the invitation : of another girl employed in the house,) shared her room: S jou after 7 o'clock on 1 Wednesday morning Mr O'Driscoll went j to the door of the room, and ordered the girl to open it, and on her doing so gave tho accused, who was in bad, in custody to Constable Russell. Constable Russell then arrested accused, and told her to rise and dress, he waiting outside the room while she did so.
