The arrival of the Bishop elect (Dr. Neligaij) is, therefore, of specul interest to a large saction of the pjcple. Dr. Neligan arrives in Wellington to-day (Wednesday), and, on account of the important position he is to fill, will excite the inter a l , of Christians of all denominations. After • a stay of a few days in the Empire City, Dr. Neligan will pass through New Plymouth on Tuesday next on lrn way to Auckland, We d) tot know if anything has been arranged for an address of welcome by the church p ople of New Plymouth; but at Stra'ford, we learn, it is intended to present an address of welcome to him, Stratford being, as io we e, the threshold of his new Diocese. Dr. Neligan will ba nut in Wellington by Archdeacon G.Der, who has been acting as Commissary (f the Dioces?, ard went through to Wellington on Monday. On arrival at Onehunga on Wednesday mornißg he will be informally welcomed by Canon Haseldean, No form or ceremonial of any sort is contemplated for Wednesday. On Thursday the consiera'ion will fake place at hilf-pist ten a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, the servick being performed by tin Acting Primate, Bishop Neville, of Duofdin, assisted by Bishop Julius (Chiistchurch), Mults (Nolson), and Will'ams (Wuiipu), 0;i the following morning the Bishop will mset the tlsrgy of the dioce3e. In tho afternoon Dr. Neligan will take pirt in the opening of tbe Qaeen Vic'.orii School for Maori Girls, Oa Saturday evening a citizens' reception will be held in the Choral Hall. His Worship the Mayor will preside, and His Excslloncy the Gjvernor will attend. At thi+ meatiog, the Mayor, supported by Sir John Logan Campbell, will welcome His Lo d.-hip on be'oalf of the citizens , of Auckland, an addre.-s will be pr.j- < seated by the Acting-Piimateon behnlf ; of tbe Bench of Bishops, and His Ex- 1 Ct'llensy will address the gathering. An illuminated address will be presented ! by Canon Gould, on behalf of the clergy | and laity. Addresses will also be pre- ( sen'ed by M-ssrs J. H.
