PKB PRESS ASSOCIATION. Received 3,5.27 p.m. New May 2. Thirty thousand Üborers, mostly station navvies, initiated a general strike at New York for increased pay. Receive 1 4, 0 57 a.m. Melboubne, May 1. There are hopes of a sattlament of the railway difficulty. Public opinion favors the dispute being referred to the Supreme Court. The S cretary of the D ivers and Firemen's Socio'y says the men are quietly awaiting devi bpments.
