In connectian wi'h Mr Scott, the Canadian Senator's charge against New South Wales for breich of faith ov»r the Pacifio Cable agreement, Sir J. Bee his received a report on tbe subject from Mr Crick, who was Post-master-General at the time tbe agreement with the Eastern Extension Cable Co. was entered into. He points out that New South W»bs had already signed the Pacifb agreement, and so far from Mr Sa >tt's assertion having any foundation, it is so utterly opposed to the truth that he cannot conceive how any resporsible person could mike such an assertion. After outlining the negotiations whereof Mr Ohamberlaio was advised, especially wi'.h regard to their biaring upon the Pacific cab'e, the agreement with the Eastern Extension Company, embodying the alterations suggested by Mr Ohamber!aio, was signed. Mr Crick conc'udes: "We, therefore, being pledged by S.atute to all wo ever promised, could see no reason why we Bhonldjpot aviil ourselves, in the interests of tha commercial c mmunity, of cheaper rates tnan those offering by tbe Eastern Extension Coy, and which did not affect our fidelity in carrying out our contract with the Pacific
