VOLCANIC ERUPTION IN CANADA

A MINE BLOCKED. GREAT LOSS OF LIFB. LABOR AREA AFFKOTED. PEB PBEB3 ASSOCIATION. Received 30,11.37 p.m. Oitawa, April 30. A disaster, attributed to volcanic agency, destroyrd a co'litry at Frank, in the north-west of 'Canada, killing over one hundred panes, chiefly women and children, and entombing twenty miners. The valley was violently shaken at daybreak, followed immediately by an eruption on Turtle mountains overlooking the town. Millions of tons of rocks wera thrown up, covering the entrance to the mi no, buryirg building*, and covering all persons outside the workings. Some reportß state that the country for 20 miles was covered with lava ar<d scoria. Orowsnest River was blocked by lava. A new crater is ejecting lava. FURTHER DETAILS. FLOOD THREATENED, Received 1,0.1 a.m. Ottawa, April 30. The latest reports from Fiank state that the top of the mine is horning. The night s'lift, numbering 60, is inside. Tfce is dammed back to a height of 100 ft, and threatens to flood a wide area.
