LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY.

The first meeting of the junior branch of the Literary and Debating Society was held list evening in the Tow., Hall. Mr Standish occupied the chair, and introduced tho object of the Society, namely, to enable young men to learn public speaking, and to acquire more knowledge of topical subjects.
