The market was well cleared of New Zealand butter when the Papanui arrived with 44,500 boxes and although tha quantity was large tbe demand exceedingly brisk and prices advanced to 100s, 108s and, for small lo's even, 110s was mada. An attempt to put the price at 112s did not succeed. Ooly small lo's were left unsold at the time the mail left and the report »ays it looked as if the shipment by the Maori would go imm diat>*ly into consumption at probably 105s to 107s.
