BOARD OF SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS
Tra Board met on Friday. Present: Hears Cock (chairman), Mackeazie, Allswortb, Faull, and Wade. It was decided that the Obairman having reported that Mr 0. T. Bundle has partitilly complied with the Boaid'a requirements bo far as catting black berry is concerned that steps to reenter be not now proceeded witb, but that he be informed he most fulfil the covenants of his lease, and tbat he will be held liable for any damages whieh may result from non-fulfilmenS. The chairman was authoris.d to enlist the aid of Mr Harry King and through him to' have tbe vacancies in
the native bosh towards the west of _ the Waiwakaiho planted with suitable native tree?, etc., and to erect necessity fencing to protect the butth on the opposite tide of the river, adjoining land leased to Mr Martin. Mr W. A. Quin again applied to be relieved of his lease of section 1, block • 14, Omona. It waß decided to inform Mr Quin that the objections ho made were fully considered when the rent was fixed at 6d par sere. The Bjard could not therefore relieve him of his contract.
The rent must be paid forthwith, but the obligations to mike improvements might be suspended for a reisor>able . time. It was decided to inform the Manganoi Road Board that subject to tbe consent of the tenant, and to the closed part of the road being vested in thb Board the proposed deviation of the Makara Road will be facilitated, tbe Board to be put to no cost. With regard to the conversion of the lease of sees 868 and others in New Plymouth, the Borough Council are to be informed that if they will state what rent they propose to pay for tbe remainder of the present term and submit particulars and plans of proposed improvements the Board »ill reconsider the application. No buildings on the land under the pie-eat less® aie to be rt moved wid out the express consent of tbe Board. It was decided that tbe portion of a the Ranger's report relating to fees 217 and 218, Voa district, be adopted. The papers in con tec 1 ion with the damming back of tbe wat-r across 'he Eek Bead and in the Board's reserves were referied to Mr Samuel. The secretary wbs icstructed to communicate with Mr H. Brown on the subject of bis ltaseholl of sec 106, block 2, Ngaire. The treasurer reported a balance of .£877 0a Id, and brought up the question of three rent accounts amounting to £7l which at present appear to be irrecoverable. It was decided that the accounts in question be no longer entered in the list of arrears, but tbat nothing be done to prejudice the Board's rights against tbe debtors in respect of such uopaid rents. The transfer of lease of sec 63, Mangacui district, 31| acres, from U. Ouley to Mis Baker wes agreed to. The time for bui'ding on Mr W. G Baale's leasehold of sees 443 and 469, New Plymcutb, was extended for one year.
A plan of a house Ur W. Courtney intended to build on tecs 384,385, and 410 and 411 was approved. A new lease of sees 2162, etc,, New Plymouth, on spec'fitd conditions, is to be granted to J. Baltimore. A new lease of 10 acres, part W., New Plymouth, will be granted Mr W. Courtney on the condi! iors specified. Mr S. B. Wbite will b9 asked to attend the next meeting of the Boa<d in connection with bis applicition to vary building obligations on his lease on Carrington-road. Mr 0. Garter and his sub-lessees will be granted new leases at Carringtcnroad on specified conditiors. It was decided to obtain land transfer! certificates for such lands as the chief surveyor and the solicitor may consider desirable. It was decided to widen Shortlandstieet in Yogeltown. Accounts, £4B 12s 6d, were passed for payment. A special meeting will be beld oe Friday, April 24'b, for the purpose of considering the question of the proposed Western Park and any oth'.r Wires* (hat may arise. The Boaid adjourned.
