CHILD DROWNED AT OMATA.
Information was received in town oa Wednesday evening thut a sad drowning sccident had occurred at Hurford t oid, Omata, It npp?ars that a littl - girl named Phyllis Allwood, aged 2| years, daughter of Mr G, Alwood, managf r of the factory, was missed in ' he course of the afternoon, and a search wns instituted for some distance around without success. On comiDg back, nemto the factory, the body of the unfortunate child was discovered, lying face downwards, in the shallow part of a creek, just under a furze bush, lif ■ being extinct. Dr. Walker was sum montd, hut, on arrival, could do Milling, as the child hid been dead some hours. An inquest will be held aftemom at 3 o'clock. Mrs Alwooi is a daughter of Mr Albert Bayly, who was lately injured in Auckland. The greatest sympathy is felt for the afflicted parents. Another version of the occurrence i-i that the child was missed about mid day and the body Hot recovered till about four hours later, it boiug than found in the mill-dam, where thore id a strong current.
