TO THE EDITOR. I Sib,—After reading the letters iu your issues of th>> 6tjt and 7th, referring to the Star Football (Jlub's Sports, I can quite sympithise with Mr A. Whiting and " Also Started," as they both have eveiy reuon to complain of the wuy they and otht-rs have been handicapped (if I may call it sj), for it appears to me that mon who have been winning at many meetings this season have been, what I c«l : , thrown into the racfs, and, in roaie c:se?, I Jo not expect to see four or five start, J, like mauy o-her athletes in this town, will be pleased to subscribe my name to the petition that is now beiiig signed asking the different clubs iu \he district io appoint a fresh han.iicipper, and am sure that, in this case, a great benefit will be derived, not only by the elub-t interaated, but by atuletes in general. 1 have had much t> do with different meetings, ar.d can cindidly s-ty thi*, with a h:iudicipper-like Mr Shannon, of Wellington, i;v<;ry sports meeting I hive attended has been a thorough success.- I am, etc., " BjtoKEN DOWN."
