At St. Mary's Ohm oh, on Tuesday af f .(TDO7D, there was a large a«««m----blaxe, principally of the fair •<■*, to witnise* the marriage of Mi«s Annie Ma«-y Weale to Mr Thomas Wetoh, Inside and outside the edifioe thai* was a throng of people b stoke ning that [more than usual interest; was being taken in tha proceedings. The Bar. F. G. Evans officiated at the ceremony, and at the close gave a brief but very happily worded addiera, after whicn the party adjourned to the ves'ry to complete the formalities. On prooseding from thenoe to the carriages tha bride bad a somewhat trying ordeal, aa she the centre of interest, and naturally all eyes were upon her. It ' was certainly an exquisite living picture hit met the gaze of tba onlookers. The bride was attired in a superb dra*a of rich ivory broiche silk, with a resplendent 0 ;mt train suspended froos the left shoulder, trimmed with festoons of chiffi n and orange blossom. Tha bodice, which fifed like a glow, wat trimmed with tuckodcrepe de oAeneand lovely silk Malta lace, tha envy of all beholders. The handkerchief sleeves were of crepe de chene and ai k Malta lace, a re l C3stly wprk of art. bridal veil was most effective, and W appropriate wreath of orange blossoms gave a finishing toudh to one of the loveliest bridal costumes that have bean sien in New Plymouth, Of course the I bride carri°d a shower bouqet, and it was one so admirably coQstraoted that r lent an additional charm to all the other lovely things desoribed above, Thero was yet ano her ornament that attracted much attention, and tint waa a point lao« handkerchief, the gift of J. »nd M Gold water.
The bidenosnids werealsi very prettily attired, Miss F. Syms (Auckland) w.aring a ve y dainty wbi'e silk drfs«, and a whiti hit with ostrich feathers. Mies M. Goldwater's blouse and skirt warn alto white si k, her hat being relieved with pale pink. The two tiny bridssmaids Missei Freda Syras »nd Eosie Shotlander looked very cha>m»>g iu tfcoir whi'e silk frocks oaoh of them carrying a basket of fl )«ers. Mr James Weale acted m beat man, and Mr Charles Batter u groomsman. At the invitation of the bride's ptrunts, Mr and Mrs B. Weale, a large number of guests assembled at Bt. Heliar's Villa after the wedding, and after the party were photographed thejr satdown, in a spacious marquee erected in the garden, to a light repast, duriog which tbe cake was out by the bride. Exceptional pains and skill had been lavished on this triumph of the ornfee* tioner's art nod it elicited warm praise and admiration fnm all present. It stood in three separate tier*, the seoond and third being supp>r'ed on oroam«ntal columns, while aiound each tier w»re some chaste and appropriate orna* men's. At the Presbyterian Church, Normality, oil March 12th, a very pretty j ceremony took place, when Miss Violet Canning, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. 8. Canning, was married to Mr: W. Treeby, of New Plymouth. The' ceremony was performed by the Rev. John Bertram (Hawera). There was a large concourse cf friends and relatives present, and the biide looked excaedingly nice and wora a figured Jap. silk dress, white ve>l, and orange blossoms. The bridesmaid, Miss Jefsie Canning, also looked very nice dressed in a figured cream delaite, with hat to match, both bride and bridesmaid. cirrying very choice bouquetsT The. groomsman was Mr Bob Treeby, and j baet man Mr Frank Moore (New Piy- i mouth). After the wedding breakfast Mr P. 1 B. Carthew was appointed chairman, 1 when the usual toasts were duly honored.' Mr Carthew, in speaking to the tcast of the parents, fpoke in tha highest< possible terms of tham. A family, he said, all born in Otago, New Za - land—a model family from model parents. He could speak with authority, as he-had known the family for years.
The happy couple left on their honeymoon the same afternoon en route for Wanganui, intending to take train at Hawera, where a large number of friends awaited their arrival. Tnis was anticipated by the cewly-man ied couple who proceeded to the next station down the line ( Wharoroi), thereby causing vehement exclamations of disappointment from those assembled at the Hawera station.
