Parcel* of will be sent to them by rail to any railway eta'ion within a distance of 75 miles. Special regulations have been adopted in oonntction with the sysem which is a new departure. The Board of Governors h.s a'ao decided ti ask Mr Carnegie for a grant of £IO,OOO towards the library. At a meeting of the Canterbury Typographical Union on Saturday uight a sum of £25 wis voted toward* the fund for the assistance of the locked out members of the Auckland furniture trades. A resolution waa alao passed urging the Government to take steps to have the diopute in the Auckland furniture trade heard by the Arbitration Court without delay. The Holies'on Memorial OommilUt has decided to issue ciroulsra inviting subscriptions from one shilling upwards. The Library Committee have been recommended by the B»rd of Governors to furnish a reading-room for the exclusive use of ladies.
