NOW OR NOT AT ALL. TO-DAY "The Times" sale of the The Century Dictionary and Cyclopaedia and Atlas will be discontinued at present prices ; the opportunity to secure the great Encyclopaedia of Words and Treasury of Facts as well as a Complete Atlas of the World at half the publishers' price will be at an end. It has been impossible to cope with the mass of orders for The Century which has reached The Times office, but receipts are being sent out as rapidly as possible, and in the meantime subscribers' cheques will not be paid into the bankers until they have been aiknowledged. A night shift of packers has been put to work, and every possible effort is being made to complete deliveries as soon as possible. Sereral envelopes containing cheques apparently intended to cover payments for The Century, but not affording any information as to the address to which volumes should be sent, are lying at "The Times" office. On accour.t of the still greater mass of letters which will certainly reach "The Times" to-day, subscribers are especially requested to exercise care in sending their orders and to refrain from posting a remittance unaccompanied by an order form or letter of application without remittance. As it will be impossible to reply to-day to letters of inquiry, the following may serve to avert confusion. WHRT "THE eENTCRY" IS. The Century is more than a Dictionary, although it is the best Dictionary of the English Language ever published. It is also a Cyclopaedia of Facts. Not only are words defined, but things are described—not in long treatises or chapters, but in short, pithy articles, each under its own heading. There are over 225,000 entries in the work, 500,000 definitions 100,000 cyclopedic articles, 7500 engravings, and 300,000 illustrative quotations. It is, as well, a complete Atlas of the World, containing, as it does, one complete volume (X.) entirely devoted to beautifully-coloured maps, etc. No other reference work has such a range and scope. Nothing is slighted. The ten large quarto volumes contain over 8000 pages of three oolumns each, and are packed full of orderly and easily accessible information.
