VOLUNTEER NEWS.
I'm annual meetihg of the Taranaki Rifles was hfrld on Monday night at the Drill Hall. The usual routine business wa» transacted, and the variou* committees elected. The corps will hold their annual ball on the 3rd June (Prince of Wales' Birthday). A bazaar will be held od the race * igbts of next year. An orderly room will be ins'ituted. Ammunition is reduced. Votes of fianks were passed to Lieutenants Hooker and Okey for donations of trophies, to Lieutenant Messenger (Guards)and Sergeant Armi-1 tage for supervising the work done on the raoge, to Mr E. M. Smith, M.H.R., for securing prison labour, and to Mr O'JBriea and Warders Downe, Hala- : more, and O'Grady for the way the work was carried out, alsj to the press | for assistance in promoting the welfare ' of the corps. j
