MOLLE, ANTONIA DOLORES.
TO-NIGHT, TO-NIGHT.
This evening at the Theatre Boyal the above accomplished lady will give a fioal recital in New Plymouth, In the words of the song " It may be for yeere, and it may be for ever " for this moat charming of living concert lingers, positively departs for Amerioi, and the Continent, on the 17th April. The Auckland Weekly News devotee a full column to Mdlle's. r?oital in that city: Seldom has au audienee so nnmsrioally la-ge, or more enthusiastic, Ihm insiifl the Ohoral Hall than that which gathered last night to welcome Mdlle. Djloiw, the famoua songstress end sweetest of singers. Long before the doors were opened crowds were aeon uomi ig from all put* of the city, and half an hour before the concert commenced the spacious hall wae crowded in part. So great was the gathering that the authorities were compelled to use the chorus benohes beside the organ, and many considered themselves fortunate to get standing room, while hundreds could not get into the building at all.
It id nownine months since Mdlle. Dolo'es gave her last conoert in Auckland, and since then she has sung all over AustrUia to immense aodienoee. So sue e-sful bss the tour been that in tone instances Mdlle, has bad to re* turn a>.d give additional performances at tVe chief c-ntres, Luting this period tbe c-lebraied diva bas sung no less tt.au 1000 different times, not ineluding enccre tsolos. Mdlle. was in excellent voice last night, an 4 reoeived a recep'ion which was in every way worthy of her great talent. Her voice is as freah and as delightful aod eym* pathetio as of ol'd, and ebe einge still with tint indescribable charm whioh is peculiarly her own. Ae a ballad elnger it is questionable if she has her rqual in the world. She lives the songs she sings, and knows tqftll how to search the hearts of her listeners. All the details of her all-conquering technique are united and made subservient to the B>le object of puwei fully, or otherwise, interpreting a solo and making it clear nnd intelligent to the listener through the s rengih of her own charmiog personality. Her voice is under sunk command that she can modulate from ih* sweetest pianissimo on any degree of the scalo she desires, to' tbe most vigorous fortissimo, and ber knowledge of tho art '.f respiration enables ber to sustain the notes to their fullest value, and cany ber phrasss to a conclusion without any app iront tffjrt. A special feature of htr voice is its evenness of quality throughout its entire compass; listen as critically as you oan, it is impossible to find one harsh or unsympathetic ton 4. All through tbe performance Mdlle. wae listened to with rapt attention at d delight, end at the te raination of her cumbers she was recalled again and again, amidst the wildest applause imaginable. Mdlle, was sat in the programme for twelve roluf, bub before the concert concluded seven additional songs had to be sung to satisfy her enthusiastic and delighted hearers. "Mr Newell, Mademoiselle's pianist, is no mere make-weight, but one of tho best accompanists and most brilliant phyers that has visited thil jcountry." i Tbe programme for this evening is % splendid one, vide our advertising eolumes, and th it the bouse will be packed, to tbe doors, we have every confidence.
