MOLLE. ANTENNA DOLORES.
_—-—, I GOOD NEWS FOR LOVE S3 OF M CTdlO. " Aboradlb " Dolorss, the little lady who siogslike a nightingale, and kughs like a tickled angel" has decided to ,'ive ene farewell song recital in Now Plymouth o.« Tuwhy, the? 24th MircV This in iudeed good news as it is questionable if a better artist ever sang in the colonics. Oartainly never a one has bo endeared herself to all and sundry as the dainty D >'o e J , who has hosts of fiionda througnou-, the leng'h ind br«adth of New Zealand. Since uer last visit to New Plymouth Ma•'emaisclla has literally coined money following in Melbn's -va'so, and a violent controversy continually rages as to 1 -hick is the superior artis*. In spito of the big drum banging and high prices of Musgrove's management it, may ba safely stated that our coming visitor scored a decided success over the famous Australian artis", for opening in Sydney forty-eight hours after Melba's record eeason the French cantatrice sang to iQQO people, and no vocalist before or since h»s received • uch a magnificent reception. At the conclusion of tb.B recital ti*o huge crowd tasembled in the street and cheered the fair singer with the greatest enthusiasm. Throughout the Commonwealth States the same success has been achieved and the following clipping from a Wairarapa piper briefly voices the general opinion :—A Maaterton resident has received a letter from a well-kno*n Perth (W.A.) musician, in which he states: —" Melba sang here for three nights. There was about £9OO in the house each night. Most of the people were disappointed, simply because they thought they were going to bear something ' miles beyond' Dolores and everybody else, when, as a matter of fact, Dolores gave the best concert, because she is a concert singsr, and Melba is not. Mademoiselle is still accompanied by Mr Newell, the clever American pianist. The box plan-opens this morning at the Colonial Piano Company's warehouse.
