HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The Board met on Monday. Present: Messrs Tisch (chairman), Pigott, Andrews, Gray, MoDjnald, Hioe, Liardet, Mackayand Brown. The chairman's action in filling the vacancy caused by Miss Hughes' tesignation of her appointment as cook w»s confirmed. An application by J. issued to indigent parsons travelling by rail to health resorts. The balance sheet for tbe past year was formerly adopted. The Boaivi d< clioed to recogcise any liability in respect of an account for £ll4 13s 6d, forwarded by the Wellington Bo.ird i'or the maintenance of the laVt Michael Dillon, of Mania. It was decided to consider at tb.9 next meeting of tbe Board the whole question of outstanding accounts, for patients who hid been inmates of the hospit.il, with a view to t iking action for the recovery of same ; in the mean-' time members to be furnished with a list of the accounts. \ The Hawera Oounty Council notified they were advised that the valuation of that part of the Hawera Oounty, now included in the Egmont Oounty, was £240,148, equivalent to £llO la 4d at lid in the £IOO, and they disputed their liability in respect of a district outride their jurisdiction, bu". they were willing to use every effort to collect the amount from the Egmjn; Oounty, and remit any amount collected. Mr Ltardet reported on a Stratford case, and he was empowered to deal with the matter. The Secre'ary was instructed to dr.\w on the Hawera Board for £3l 6s in respect of mmey received prior to 31st March, 1903. The Hawera Bo\rd applied for pay-' ment of £SO in respect of Mr Budge's honorarium for acting as temporary secretary, but the r. quest was dtclitied ias being against the agreement between the Boards. Tne Ohairoaau repoited thut affairs at the Homo, under Mr Farter's management, were progressing favourably.
