WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.
The Board met on Wednesday. Members present —Mr 1\ Western (chairman), Messrs Brown, Old, and Turnbull. 1 Correspondence was read from Department of Roads stating that a further A7O had been granted for completion of metalling Te Arei Road ; from Health Depart* ment requesting the Board to pass a resolution constituting the County Council as district health authority under the Public Health Act; from Treasury authorising loan of i'lsoo for construction of Klley Road, provided necessary steps were taken; from Noxious Weeds Inspector giving Board notice to clear Lisson Ter-> race of furze and blackberry Messrs Old and McMillan attended and requested the Hoard to apply for a sub-' sidy from the Government on Kelly Road loan. Th« clerk was ditected to write and ask for subsidy on the loan, and also for a further grant to complete the Te Arei Road, the sum of .±'7o not being sufficient to metal the remaining 14 chains. Messrs Old and Brown reported having let the two contra-ts on Te Arei Road to J. T. Body for £7B -Approved. Mr Turnbull was authorised to procnre pipes for culvert on Cross Road The surfacemiin was directed to pub in three days work at clearing out drain in Mrs Monroe's ; the Board not being required to erect gates on road which crosses her place to gravel pit in adjoining section. Mr Knyvett to be informed that he must start his contract on Te Arei Koad at once, or his deposit will be forfeited. Ihe clerk reported that the rates outStanding were under i2O. These wera ordered to be sued for if not paid by 31st March Mr W, Cartwright's tender at £7 12s per chain for metal on 'J e Arei Road was accepted. Accounts were passed for payment, and the Board rose.
