After hearing further evidence the Appeal Committee decided that the Thrco Men Manual event, in which the Spit team sucerasfully appealed to have additional penI alties on should Ibe run off ty bo'h This resulted as follows: nlaltic-s 2) 51 3 ssec, Spit (penalties 5) 'm 54 l-s*ec. The Five Men Manual was won by Qora in 42 4 s<fc, Ohris'-church 47 3-s*ec 3, Spit 48sec 3, Hawera 49 2 ssec 4, G eymouth and Ashburton etch 54sec ttd for fifth pltce, and jd'Yided thn piizj. The Con ping <vont for two men w nt to cvbliburtnn 42sec, OhrUtchurch 43 l-s«c 2, Hawera 43 4-ssec 3, (Javershim 4 U c 4, Oamuru 44s«c 5. The Oonsola'i>n oviin% Hose Hydrant and Union, five men, was won by Timaru in 34sec, Kuripuni 36ieo 2, Danu virke 36 l-sse3 3, Hastings 37nee 4, Ashburton 37 2 Ssio 5. Christ.-hurch woo the Shand, Mason and O imp in;-'s Challenge Shield for most poiats in all events, except tho one ram manual and hdder race errata, with a total of 13 point*, Hawera being socond wi h 1), and Spit, last year** winue-, third with 10 points, Napier fourth with 7 points. The win wu very popuhr. The three leading teams were undoubtedly the pick o? those competing. Tne Manual Uogine Shield was also won by Chrigtchurch with 12 po Dts, b'pit and Gore tied for second placo with 5 points, and Ashburton fourth with 4 points. Htwera wo a the High Pressure Shield with 11 point", Napier seoond with 7, Spit and Thames next with 5. Thre < fp cial prizes wera offered by Bros, for most points in tho Five Men Hose and U ion, Hose Reel Fla*', and Hase Red and Ladder events, Napier t.iking firs 1 -, pi ce with 7 points, Spi-, Humes, and H*wera dividing second and third money with 5 points each. The Demonstration has been the mojt successful yet held under the auspioes of the Association.
