BOROUGH COUNCIL.
LOAN WORKS. At a special meeting of the Council, the fol'owiog recommendations of the Special Loan Committee were adopted : That Mr Mestayer be informed that the Council can store 1000 casks of cement; that the Engineer prepare a trial gride, and estimate of cost of forming Cameron-street, from Gilbartstreet to John-street; that the Engine 'r prepare an estimate of computing Devon street: to the full width, from boundary to boundary; that in the opinion of this Council, 12ft is suffiwidth for footpaths in Devon-Btreet, and the Engineer be requested to consider the question of reducing the present p:\ths; That the necessary alterations tie made in the abattoir plan, and submitted to the Agricultural Department, and that tenders be called for erection of the bu-lding; that the Engineer report on the wotk necessary at the eastern end of Courtney-street, beyond Watson-street; that the Engineer conf -r with Or Tisch as to putting the Esplanade in order, and as to opening up the entrance in front of the Terminus Hotel.
WORKS COMMIT TEE. The following rccomraenda'ions of the Works Committee were adopted : That a short length of footpvh be made in Shortland-sTfet; th»t th* question between Mr Webber and the Council as to widening Lemon-street be left to tbe Chairman to deal wi hj; that thj Chairman consult tbe Borough Solicitor regarding the damage to the Henui bridge and water channel, by Mr Colesby ; that provided 'he public are gran'ed tight of acoess to the urinals at tl.e Qovernmeat buildings, only half rate for water be charged —this arrangement to be subject to months notice on either side; tbat tbe Sash and Door Company be granted permifsion to occupy a portion of Mo-Cormick-street, on terms proposed at at an annual acknowledgement rent of £1 per annum. BESERVES COMMITTEE. Tho following recammandations of the Reserves C mmittee were adopted : That subject to the approval of the Borough Solicitor, the Public Works Department be permitted to lay a siding on sub-division 9 and 14, Ngaire, in terms of (heir letter of February 18th; tint J. West's tender of £l4 for gr zing rights of Mt. Bryon reserve be accepted.
