BLOATED IMPERIALISM. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Received 27, 10,30 p.m. London, February 27, Lord Rosabery addressing the Liberal League at Glasgow, said the Government's Imperialism meiut bloated armaments, and bloated expenditure. The CDuntry ne. d d a saner, cheaper, and leas provocative Imperialism. He accused the Government of indifference to all social questions. Tne Duke of Devonshire, addressing the Liberal Unionist Association at Westminster, while eulogising Lord Salisbury, remarked that i -was eisi -r for Mr B-ilfoiir to resard m\r.y qirstions more from a Unionist than a Couserva'ive standpoint:. The relations of the two sections were more •n'imate. Mr Chamberlain rccupied a posit'on in the Government, and in Parliament scarc9ly second to Mr Balfour's. Referring to last session's Education I Bill, the Duke of Devonshire admitted | that if a gen?ral election had been held then the Government would probably have been severely defeated. He spoke hopefully of a solution of the Irish land qivstion, aud said it was still p-ssible that Homo Rule would be revised. Mr Buchanan, a Liboral, was elected for Perthshire unopposed, ra--1 placing Mr Kentoch, reaigued.
