The Daily News. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 1903. NEW PLYMOUTH ADVERTISED.

The rapid progress New Plymouth is mtking is attracting a good deal of attention. For some time New Plymouth, although making solid appeared to lag behind sjrce of the youogc-r and asertively progressive towns, but of late New Plymouth has put on all the outward signs of a busy bristling, progressive, populous town. The shops and business premises beai every evidence of prosp* rity, theetree fare full of vehicles, and the footptt'is thronged with people. Trails, cwche*, and steamers arriving and leaviutrare crowded with passengers, and everywhere are to be found indications of a metiopolitan centre. Visitors to th town are struck with the evidences o 1 growth and ptosp rity, and spraad the news of our progress throughout the i colony. It is, however', diffi ult to convey to people at a distanoe the impressions produced, or actually see th* ■ evidences wd have mentioned, f:y verbal or written descriptions. Thep;opleof New Plvmou'h should therefore .be grateful to the proprietors of the Auck land Weekly Aews for the splendii advertisement they have given Ne».' Plymouth in their admirable illustrated piper. The copy before us is almost entirely devoted to New Plymouth, and enables ptopla in other parts of the colony to form a correct idea of the size and importance of the town. i j Besides several admirable landscape (ecenes, a great many of the principal buildings, business places, leading I business men, public departments and i local bodies are given. Needless to i say that the photographer, Mr Ool'is, j whcse skill in this liue and artistic ■ taste are so well known, has done full j justice to his subject, and pro'!used a series of views and photos which are of j great interest and value. Indted, Mr I Oollis has, on this occasion, excelled j all his previous efforts in this line, j For the purpose of sending Home o: j to friends at a distance it is admirably designed and carried out in a minner which leaves nothing to b) desind, and the enterprise of the proprietors of this excellent weskly should be well j rewarded. We take this opportunity I of congratulating them on the su cess j of their eflorts, and the people of N. w i Plymouth on having the town so favourably placpd bafore the world. I •" ' =
