FACILITIES FOR AUSTRALIAN T&NDERBRS. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Melbourne, February 26. An informal discussion took p'ace between Sir Joseph Ward, Mr Roberts (chairman), and Mr Mewhae (ex-chair-man) of the Stock Exchange, with regard to giving increased facilities for financial people here to tender for New Zailand loans. Received 27, 0.50 a.m. Melbourne, February 26. At a meeting of the Stock Exchange the exhnt to which Vic'orian money is being invested in New Zealand four per cents was referred to, and as opinion expressed that such a practice should be discouraged, owing to the desirability of retaining as much money as possible in the community for its own security. The Chiirman explained that the Stock Exchange would not take any action to (top the New Zealand Government coming to Victoria for money His interview with Sir Jrseph Ward' wss intended to secure to members of the ExcbaDge the same consideration from the New Zealand Government as is allowed them by tbe Victorian and Queensland Governments. At present no brokerage was allowed members of the Exchaoge for New Zealand low business, and Sir Joseph W»rd hai promised to use his influence with Mr. Seddcn to secure payment of brokerage There is a strong feeling among members that encouraging all the States to come to Victoria will have the effect of making Melbourne the financial centre of th? Commonwealth.
