PRODUCE COMMISSIONERS' REPORT
, PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. ! Wellington, February 25. I In tbe course cf a report dated 16th January, Mr H. C. Cameron, Produce i Commissioner in England, says that genera 1 sitisfaction regarding the Kara-ine-i'6 shipment of butter has bsen ex- ' pressed by the trade. This shipment, however, unfortuna'ely met a declining market, aad had to be quitted at lower prices than were obtained for previous . shipments this ee-tson. The market , has been affected by several weakening j factors, apart from the large quantities . of stored butter and the long spell of mild weather experienced untd a few days ayj. Large supplies of new made j. goods have . continued to come forward f fiom the Continent aud elsewhere, with which New Z-aland has had to compete, The Karamoa's shipment of cheese ' met with an excellent market, fine ' brands leidily making ftom 60a to 61s per cwt. Supplifs all round are in comparatively small compass and thore . jis every of prices being fully '' i maintained for some time to come. It would appear from the position of the market and the prospects for the future that those factories which have confined their operations to cheese making will probably show better results at the end of this see s.m than those while formerly making cheese have this season changed to butter. Making a steady e policy oce way or tho other would seem Q to ba thi best in the long run. [j The Tongiiriro'ts shipment was delivered in excellent ondi-ion generally.
