ELECTRICAL POWER.
Ik the course of an interview with a S.Z. Times reporter, M. Alio, the Swiss electrical expert engaged by the Givernment to report on the suitability of New Zealand rivers for the generation of electrical power, said the present contracts of his firm (the Cbrlikon Electrical Machine Company) include 6000 horse power installation for electric lighting purposes in London, the extens on of the Dublin Tramway service, a gigantic 96,000 horse-po*er waterworks system at Zurich, and the construction of an elevated railway ov<!r the Jungfrau Mountain, in the Swiss Alps, which will have a terminal altitude of 16,000 feet. This last work is being carried out; for the Swiss Government. The firm is also engaged on over 100 electric tramway services throughout Europe. So far M. Alio has had uo acquaintance with New Zeiland, but from what he beard in Australia he understands the natural water power ava.'labia for electric purposes in this country is sufficient to gnpply all iudussrial requirements. Mr Alio has be<m visiting Inglewood relative to a site for generating electric tl powjr far supplying that dis-trict,-and has arranged to submit an estimate of cost.
