MR. CHAMBERLAINS TOUR.
BPLENDID REOEPTiOS AT OAPE I'OWN. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Cape Town, February 18. Mr Chamberlain is slightly indisposed. He addressed a large meeting at the, Paarl (a Dutch hotbed near Cape Town). Be said that the Boer Generals had other reasons for no' joining the Transvaal Legislative Council than th-ir declaration that the Tranivaal wan'ed pe*ce to 'recuperate. Mr Chamberlain added that the Cape Constitution must be the panacea fur disloyalty. Subsequently he reached Cape Town, where he is the guest of Sir Walter Hely-Hu'chinson, Governor of the Cape. The reception of Mr Chamberlain at Cape Town was enthusiastic, Lavish decorations had been made and a triumphral arch erected. The Colonial Secretary received a tremendous ovation from 10,000 people in Green Market Square. Acknowledging an address from Australians, Mr Chamberlain dwell warmly on the splendid services of Australians in the war. He expressed the hope that chronic racial antagonism would bs merged in a broad spirit of Imperial citizenship. Sir Gordon Sprigg was present and was vigorously hooted.
