The reception of Mr Chamberlain at Cape Town was enthusiastic, Lavish decorations had been made and a triumphral arch erected. The Colonial Secretary received a tremendous ovation from 10,000 people in Green Market Square. Acknowledging an address from Australians, Mr Chamberlain dwell warmly on the splendid services of Australians in the war. He expressed the hope that chronic racial antagonism would bs merged in a broad spirit of Imperial citizenship. Sir Gordon Sprigg was present and was vigorously hooted.
