The jury returned a verdict of manslaughter, with a recommendation to mercy, on the ground that deceased might have tampered with herself prior, to leaving Napier. A sentence of seven years hard labour was passed on j the prisoner. The Crown Prosecutor, intimated that the other charge against Moore would probably not be proceeded with The charge against Mary Ann Mills were allowed to stand over till next Biasion, sureties being demanded.
