CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA.
FIB FKESB ASSOCIATION, Wasqasui, February 19. The Championship Regatta commenced th-s afternoon. The weather and water are perfect, and the visiting cre*s are delighted with the splendid stretch of water, which they affirm is unsurptsced for rowing contests. For the first event, the Maiden, ten crews entered Waitemata, Canterbury, Star (Wellington), Avon, Petone, Union (Ohristchurch), and four loc»l crews. The Maiden resulted:—Waitemata 1, Union (Ohristchurch) 2, Avon (Christchurch) 3. A great race. Won by a quarter of • length. Champion Fours: Kawatiri 1, Wanganui Unions 2, Canterbury 3. Won by a length. Junior Outrigger Fours, one and a half miles.—Stars 1, Canterbury 2, Union (Wanganui) 3. Won by a length. Time, 9min 58 I-Sboc. Champion Mingle Sculls, one mile and a half.—W. Webb (Wanganui) 1, J. F. McGrath (Dunedin) 2. Time, 9min ss9c. Champion Pairs, one mile and a half. —Wellington 1, Petone 2. Time, 9min 412-ssec. Junior Fours, one mile and a half.— S"<ars 1, Waitemata 2, Ohristchurch 3. Time, Bmin 55 3-ssec. Champion Double Sculls.—Otago 1, Ohristchurch Asnateurs 2. Time, 9min 10 l-ssec. Senior Fours, one mile.—Canterbury 1, Union (Wanganui) 2.
