NEW PLYMOUTH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A hkbtikq of the Committee was held t at the Town Hall on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs W. A. Collis (chairman), Rev. W. R. Woolley, S. W. Jackson, Jae. Harvey, P. P. H, White, and Tios. White. Mr Demps?y's monthly report on the Central School was received, showing » attendance for past three weeks to have keen 508, 522'4, and 491.4; average 507*2, the number on the roll being 602 v He raid, inter alia," On the first, nee day 115 were absent, and on the' Be:ond 163. The following day, Friday, 1 was wet, when 196 were absent-. It is, observable that on we' days those who attend often live furthest from the ■ohool, white many who live quite near - remain away." Resolved, That the Committee regret to Bee, by Mr Dempsey's report, that the school attendance is not so regular > as it was a few years ago, and would earnestly appeal to parents to avail' themselves of the greit advantages offered; end that the Truant Inspector's ' attention be called to the matter. I j The Committee appiovod of the' boundaries ef the Central School Dig- 11 & trict as shown in a plan, being from j 1 " the mouth of the Benui River up that stream to a print at the south-east corner of section 63, thence in a straight line to a point juoctioning with the Hnatoki Stream, thanes down that | stream to Dawscn street and from, thence by Dawson-strret to the sea. The Kev. W, R. Woolley and Mr. ; S. W. Jackstn were appointed a v.siting committee. It was reeolved that Mr A. B. R. Fookes haviog resumed his duties as treasurer he be authorised to act as •• previously with the chairman in signing cheques. Accounts were piss 3d for payment.
