THE CONVENT SCHOOL.
The Sisters of tho locil Convent announce that they are now prepared to teach music according to (he"Clavier " ays em, which is considered to be far superior to the piano for teachmg -rnd practice. The "Olavier" is a silent teaching and practice piano, with—instead of music d tcn^s—mild clicks, like those of the telegraph instrument, at both the up and down movement of the keys, (dr.her or both of which may bi silenced at the wi<h of the p'ayer. The c'icks are especially for tiohnic teaching and p-actice in both exercises and piec s, and are an infalli' la guide 11 finger, wrist, and arm movements in all qualities and shades of normal piano t*uch. The Practice Olavier has a fu'l an! perfect phno keyboard, and its action is such that the touch is the same as that of the best piano. It shuts cut from the <ar all disturbing sounds, and confines the attention for the time b?ing to the single object, the training of tho fingers, the cultivation of the far being considered an impossibility while i lister, ing to bad tones. The Practice (Olavier is, undoubtedly, the most im-p-irtanfc libaur saving invention in this fi Id of hum in effort, and, although the sysrem is a little more expensive just iat first, in the long run i' will be found ff tv cheaper than the old, or rather, the present method of pianoforte tuition.
