AN IMPRESSIVE SPEECH. Received 30, 0.16 p.m. Gape Town, January 29. Mr Chamberlain replied unfatourably to ths Mafebing Annexing Committee's request as to annexing British Bechuana'aud to the Transvaal. He comp'imented the defenders en their glorious defence of the town, fuch as no other catipn could have accom- { plished. He disclaimed any intention to cnax the Boers by flittering words.
