SEVERE HAILSTORM.
D IMAGE TOOROJS. PBB PBEBS ABBOBIATION. Ohristohcroh, January 27. A veiy f-evTu thunderstorm and shower of hail passed over part of Ohris church th s afternoon. The thundt-r was exceedingly bud, and sometime after the clouds had pwsed away there was a sudden shower of hailstones as big as pigeons eggs. At first thsy fell separately, but soon increased in density and became Very heavy. A large number of glass verandahs in the streets were seriously damaged, and several windows broken by the hailstones which made the ground quite white for a time. fiors s in the streets suffered considerably from the force wish which they were struck by the hailstones. The storm lasted for about 15 minute?. It wan preceded by immense ebuda of dust which enveloped tiio city. Duingtbe storm the ground in Laaoaster F»rk was struck by lightning and a large rent caused. The track of the storm was very nirrow and no hail fell in some of the suburbs. News from Lseston states (hit great damage has been done to the orops in the Ellesmera distiict.
