SHIPMENT OF DAIRY PRODUCE.
As'Rikisg commentary on tba above is to be found in the figures published regarding the record shipment of dairy p oduce by the Pupanui last week. I amounted to 1113 tons, made up as follows : Prim Wellington, 341 ton}; Paracaki, tons; Patea, 193| tons; Auckland, 153 tons; Lytteltor, 75 tous; Duoedin, 59 tons ; Bluff, 14 tons. On T present quotations the value of the butter at Home is .$lO5 pßr ton, wh : ch wou'd mike the butter in the Papanui's hold* worth 16,865, In addition to the butter there were 275 tons of chi ese onboard—lss tons from Wellington, 91 tons from the Bluff, 19 to r s from LyttbltoD, and 10 toBS f-em Duoedin. Ohocee at Home is quoted at i 62 a ton, acd at price the shipmmt is I worth ,£17,050, On the same workiu ; i the total value of the dairy produce on the steamer amounts to .£133,915. Dealing with the butter exported it will be seen that Wellington sent 341 tons, and the whole of the Sou' h Ishnd 148 tor s, Taranaki 471 tans aud AukUnd 153 tone. Adding the Auckland butto to Taranaki, because it all g-e? via -he breakwater in the Rotoiti, we bave a total of 624 tons which would be shipped "here if we had direct shipping as against 489 from the rest of t he colony. The ei# flecdawi 7imes in dealing with these figured cooly adds the New Plymouth but'er 'o the Wellington and gives that port the credit of it. In addition to the dairy produce referred to above, on the day before the P.pariui left Wellington the Home steamec Ruapihu completad har leading at Waitara. Her cargo consisted of: —300 bales wool, 23 casks tallow, 6 casks pelt?, 4 bales leather, 352 qu i ters beef, 88 carcases and 3 s'des veal, 5637 carcases lamb, 1788 carcases mutton, 31 cases sundries; the making a very oreli'able export for one week from Taranaki.
