About 140,000 acres of land ban beau acquired in thj* Orange Colony, The idea is to bri< g 16,003 acres under cultivation thereby providing a living f r 1000 settlers and their families. All profits above five per cent will be devo!el to tin requirements of the settlers.

IMPORTATION OF NAVVIES. At a conference between the Ru,d mining leaders and Mr Chambjrlain, a proposal was made by Mr Chamberlain tint the Government should im•p irt 5000 English navvies on c mdition that the mines engaged a similar number at 4< a diy, besides their keep.
