VOLUNTEER NOTES.
WSLLIN9TON ASSOCIATION MEETING PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, January 22. At the Wellington Volunteer Rifle Association meeting to-day, private J. Turner, of the Bigbhnd Rifl-s, agiin won the champion belt and gold medal. The teams match was won by the Wellington Guards. A team from H.M.S. Wallaroo competed in this event, but did not shoot into place.
STRATFORD RIFLES V. TARANAKI RIFLES.
| The above fixture was fired off at the local rang'.* on Thursday when the home ' team scored rather a decisive victory. The scorirjg was very good, especially by the Taranaki Rifles. Mxjor Okey put on a " possible " at 500 and what is even better registered 32 in the magazine firing, namely 7 shots wi hin 45 seconds. The Major finished up wiih the respectable score of 126 with Lieutenant Okey one point behind. It will be sten by the scores that all but two of the New Plymouth men registered 100 or over, whilst the average for the team was 106-5, The average of Stratford Rifhs team was 92.
