The resolution Was adopted. Mr Messenger reported that five chimneys had been affected by the earthquakes, three of whioh had been rebuilt from the roof upwards, and tha remainder pointed. The cost of living of these men wasalap considerably higher than would ba she case at the Home, and ha therefore suggested that they should ba removed to the Home and be under the immediate supervision of Mr Farrer, who would enforce the rules, and, if necessary, a prohiki ion order oould be taken out against any who was troublesome* Should this be dons it would ba naoe* sary to enlarge the men's dining-room as there was now only seating room for the 24 inmates at piesent there.
