The Whangafcape arrived at Sydney cn 17th—all well—having been detained by. stormy weather in the Tssman dea. I When the Northern Company's steamer ! Mgapohi was about to leave New Plymouth on Wednesday night for Onebnnga the maiu check valve was suddenly b'o*n off. This, of coarse, necessitated putting the fi'es out to enable the necessary repairs to be effected, consequently the steamer did not leave the breakwater until four o'clock on Thursday morning, and arrived at Onehntga at halfpast two o'clock. A new steamship cor pan y has been formed for the Whangarei-Auckland trade, with a capital of £30,000. The name of the company is the Whangarei Co-operative and country. The Bani'of has been appointed bankers. Mr. T. H. Steadman solicitor, and Mr. H. W* Briggs secretary pro tern. Steamers hence to Wellington on Tuesdays will leave at 8.30 a.n>., instead of noen. The Takapnna will, in future, be the Tuesday evening boat to Onehunga, while the Hotoiti will leave on every 'J hursday and Saturday evening at 5.30. '
