THE MAJERONI DRAMATIC COMPANY.

"BROTBER AGAINST BROTHER."

i Rarely has an audience at the Theatre Royal bees stirred to 6uch depths as on i Wednesday night duing the p?rformi anee of the drama "Brother Against Brother." On the previous evening ; the Majernni Company had given a splendid sample of their talent in-the lighter vein of comedy, and, although i they gave unmistikeable evidance of ' high dramatic ability, the full extent of their powers in this direction could bardly have been expected to have attained the splendid height which Wednesday eveoing's p;rformanfe exhibited. Not otly was the piece magnificently staged, but it was actsd throughout in eve.y derail with consummate skill and ability, appliusc being frequent and exceptionally hearty With a good pi it to evjlv--, and brinj to a sitiif»ct ivy end, the c mpany evidently hid a congenial tisk, Evei) tailing phrass and situation was m >si artistically handled, no detail being tot small for cwful treatment. A: Anthony Radford, the involved iron founder, Mr George gaveoDi of the finest character sketches thi has been seen here. It was a par tint required representing by a miftei in histriooic art, and in his hands i became so true to nature that i st imped the actor as an artist of higl rank. Nor was Mr Mario Majaroni'i rep esentation of Allen Foster oni whit behind that of his brother. Noth ing could have been batter than thi way in which he demonstrated thi noblenesa of heart of the unacknow ledged son. His acting in scene thre° of act two, in the cellar of the w nke was a masterpiece of art, and evoket tremendous applause. Mr Oharlei Knight also scored a great succes in the part of Mat Craven. With out excep'ion the lady memben of the company gavj mo3t fi ished re presentations of their part?, and full] merited the appreciation of theii ••fforts which was bestowed by thi audience. Miss Granville, as Mri Radford, had a p»rt that suited hei exactly, and she acted it with great success. Miss Ogden cou'd not have shown Cora Dane in a more favourable light, and she added to a reputatior that already stands very high. Ai Mat's daughter, Mis* Renno was ox-

callent, exhibiting a dramatic power i hit surprised the audience, especially in Act 4 and in the finale. Miss Hilda Meade, as Mat's blind daughter, scored a complete success, and evoked tremendous applause again and agaib, while in the fire scene she fairly brought down the house. The other members of the company all did well,' and those present will long remember the pleasure which they experienced at the performance. The scenery was again excellent, especially that of the fire at tha factory, which was si cleverly worked out that its te.lity faidy startled sjme of the audience, Nothing better than this li s ever been seen on the stage at the ! heatre Royal. The music also was far above the average. TO-NIGHT.

Will be the last of the season, and the management h>s wisely Ift the bast piece with which to take farewell of tha pub'i i here. The " Eicg of Iron "is on) of the best dramas produced in modern years, and there is one sensational scene alone whicn should attract a crowded house. No playgoers should be absent from the Theatre tonight, or they will miss a very great treat, !
