ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
PHB PBBSS ASSOeUTIOK. Wellington, January IS. Annie Rosen, aged 77, was burned to death through falling into an open fire at her daughter's residence at Mangaraintrama. At tha uquest on the body of Fredfrick Field, who was killed while coaling the Corinthic on Saturday, the juiy returned a verdiot of accidental detth, but were of opinion that no precautions were taken to prevent such an accident, and recommended that special provisions be made in future.
Ohristchuboh, January 13. Some shocking disclosures were made at the iuquest at. West Oxford to day on the bos/of Elizibeth Ourren, wife of the licensee of the Commercial Hotel tbere. The woman was found dead in the hofol kitchen on Saturday nigh", and the evidence showed that she had been drinking heavily. Outran tried to get ber out of the kitchen into her bedroom, but found her toe heavy, and left her there. Later a servant went in and found the body lying on the- fl or, life being ex inct. .Nothing was place 1 under the woman's head, and she «as just al'owed to lie on the kitohen floor. A medical man s aud that the womiu dud from alcoholic poisoning, but that the fact of being let: lying on the fljer without ctre or attention was alon» liable to cause deach. The Coroner commented on the ctllous behaviour of the husband in lowing his wife lying on the floor in tha sta'.e of health she was in, aud not using sufficient p-e----cauuonato prevent her from obtaining driuk.
