Mr Herbert made a decided hit as " M >jor Henry Cky Brdtt"' wbose pa'i ioil aims, ambitions and methods delighted the audi ence—and, en passant, recalled the old maxim that "many * true word ispoken in j>st" Mr J. B. Ma tin filled tha role of •' MitUie v Brandon " admirably, whilst the part of " Wing Lei"—a mu hde pised bu- ulc miteh' indisp n ; able crl-sfc'al—was taken b) Mr Joe D von. Thi villain, in tho person of Mr Harry JrrJau »• d cha - act-er of " Josiah Serais" was well pourtrayed. Of theltdies Miss lloso Phillips is certainly above the av<nnge as an emotional aotre?B aod as " Mary Brandon " she score! a compl-te su :• cess. As " Grace Brandon" Miss Maie Shepp\rd also soon put hers If on goad terms with tha audience. The comedy honours \v*re divided betweeu Mrs Birry Line " Posy Pea land "aril Mr Arthur GoaJo, Bowler " (au acrobat) —with " Major B ett" thrown in by way of addi'ional diversion. Taken altogeih r the company's effort was distiuctly creditable, TO-NIGHT will be staged " Tha Busier " and those who wish ior a thoroughly amusing evening's entertainment should not fail to attend.
