It having been a burning question for some time past with Grown tenants a* to whether they had the right to dispose of thi milling timber upon theiff | hold ngs without obtaining r —nfitirm frem the Boird, and also whether tha Board roa'd compel such tenants to pay the amount received by them for tin •tie of such timber to the ftweiver at land revenue as so much rent in ad* vance, the Government derided to submit the question to the law officer «f 'he Grown for his decision, whieh it hat tenants have the powrr to ssll and remove marketable timber from their hud, and also that it ia not necessary that they should obttin the oonsent m the Land Board b fore so doing, and further that the C ovn cannot impose as one of the conditions that the money received from the sale of timberahouM be pud to the Board as rent in ad* vance.
