The Chairman stated that Major' Loveday had visited tha Central School and inspected the cadets, being much p'fns.'d wi'h their smartness and efficiency. He intimated the manner in which it was proposed to deal with the corps by having certain centres in dif--1 f rent parts of the district, which boys from neighbouring schools would att nd for the purpose of drill, and the Major suggested that tb.9 Board should recommend an instructor.

On the motion of Mr Allsworth, it was decided that Captain Taunton should be recommended f.r the appointment. The question of a school site at Mikahu was referred to Mr Kennedy with power to consult the Survey Deportment.

He contended that the consideration of the Inspector's reports was a matter of the greatest importance.

Mr Faull seconded the motion, which was also supported by Mr Adlam. Mr Allsworth, while agreeing with the obj'ct in view, pointed out that difficulties might occur owing to important matters arising out of the correspondence not b?ing considered till late in the meeting, and probably at thtt stage not receiving the attention needed.
