STEVENSON'S BIOSCOPE ENTERTAINMENT.
The entertainment provided at the Whiteley Hall on Friday evening, when Mr E, 3. Sievansou submitted his second ptogrammc, was exceptionally good. Thj favourable opinion expressed of the firs'; night of :hu siason was fully count med las" nigiit, when the animated and fixud views w>-ra of u very superior chtractur. The programme was a lengthy ose, the subjects being adicirably chosen and arranged, and the change from grave to gay was c.ilcultted to pie se <!veryo:i«, Nearly all the pictures ar fJ quito new to New Plymouth, and the manipulation of the bioscope, which in a particularly fine and powerful one, left nothing to be deshed. Tin items thrown on the screen were very p.harp and clearly defined, the animated pictures being a long way, both in size. and clearness, ahead of the majority of thos3 generally shown. There were far too many iterns for us to particularise, but the views of Windsor Qastle were worth going miles to see, and must have beeu a revelation tj many of those present, giving a splendid idea of that magnificent home of tho British Royal Family. The animated pictures of the Niagara Falls ware simply marvellous and realistic beyond conception. Some entirely n«w vinws of the late Queen's funeral and King Edward opening his first Parliament were excellent. Some animated views of lovely Irish scenery wtT9 greatly sppraciatad. The concluding item was a grand spectacular film 800 feet long, taking over SO minutes to pass before the audience, being the story of Joan of Arc. This is supposed to be the longest and mos' costly animated picture ever produced. Tne life and work of the famous Joan of Arc from tho time she left her home and placed horSalf at the head of the French army, which she led to victory, to her final capture and execution \s very graphic? ally portrayed.* The audieisoa was very apprtciative, liberally applauding the various items. It is unfortunate the Theatre Royal not being availably as we feel sure the programme would fTI it to overflowing. To-n ; ght (Saturday) will be the last opportunity of seeing this excellent exhibition, when we hopo ; to see the place packed, as cue merit of the entertainment deserves,
