Mr Chamberlain affirms the taking into consideration of the relative magnitude and importance of the duties of the Governors-General of Canada and Australia, The littor is probably the raoie arduous and entails more expense. It was of the highest importance that the salaries of Colonial Governors should be adequate without having to be supplemented f;om their private resources. Mr Chamberlain points out that Canada allows £6OOO in addition to the salary. ■ ■■'
