The Government is so ratisfied with the experiment of employing short sentence prisoners in tree plantisg in the Rotoru* district, that it has decided to increase the number of men. The system will be applied to one or two parts of the South Island when an opportunity occurs.

At Wanganui at a special meeting of the Licensing Committee an application to transfer a license was opposed bv the owner.
