FRANKLEY ROAD.
ANNUAL MEETING OF RATKPAYERS. Tub largest and most enthusiastic meeting ever held in the district toolr place on Monday night, Mr H. Okey (chairman) read the balanoe-ihaet for the year. This was adop'ed, and the outgoing Board was thanked for its good work. Messrs C. Billing, W. Ambury, and P. Lister have been returned *nopposed to fill the vacancies. The new Bnard was instructed to bring down a sell me, with estima<#»of cos' 1 , at once for widening, straightening, filling in at the tannery gate, and improving the grade of tbe road and makiag a footp-ith on one side for a mile or more from the town boundary, the work to be named out in conjunction with the special loan for metalling the upp°r portion of the road. This received the unanimous vote of the meeting, ratepayers from all over the district expressing themselves in favour of a loan to complete the improvement scheme. A resolution was also passed suggesting to I ha Eliot Road Board the necessity of metalling the Uowling-road to connect the Frunkley and Eliot-roads, an offer being made to supply metal from the Hawke's Hill quarry free of royalty. It is felt by the settlers in the Frankley district that owing to the devt-lopiner.it of New Plymouth their neighborhood must become a popular place oFresidenee, and only needs the approach to be improved in order to make one of the most f ivoured suburbs.
