The last day of the great unreserved sale of drapery, etc., by Mr Geo. Faris, is announced for to-day, commencing at 11 a.m. Stratford's new municipal theatre was opened on Thursday evening, when a brilliant function took place. The Canterbury Education Board's committee appointed to inquire into charg'a against James Mahoney, late headmaster of the Prebbleton school, report tbat Mahoney was quite unfit to teach, control, or asieeiate with children. The Board approved the repert and will ask the Minister for Education to cancel Maheney's certificate. The Harbour Board's reserve between the Union Shipping Uompany's office and the Hotel Commonwealth will soon be built upon.
